Sergey Aleynikov, an immigrant from the former USSR, who since 2007 and through the beginning of June 2009 worked as a VP for Goldman Sachs, was arrested by the FBI on the eve of the Independence Day. Apparently, he is charged with the theft of trade secrets of his former employer which secrets he tried to transfer abroad (uploaded to a German-based website belonging to a UK owner). The trade secrets mentioned in a criminal complaint pertain to an "ultra top-secret quant trading proprietary code" which gave GS advantage over its competition in the speed of performing automated trades.
